About the artist

My name is Brit Obenauer, though I paint and create under my middle names, Keiko Ivonne—a tribute to the two grandmothers who passed them down to me. These women inspire me to follow my heart, trust in myself, and continually expand my creative boundaries.

I find inspiration in the textures, colors, and light that surround us—from the wet asphalt drying in Brooklyn, to the sun rising over the ocean, to the swooshes of frosting on a cake. These moments, often gone with the blink of an eye, form the foundation of my work.

While painting has long been at the core of my practice, I took a ceramics class on a whim and was immediately hooked. What began as a curiosity quickly became another essential creative outlet. I was drawn to the tactility of clay—the way it records every touch and transforms with fire. Today, alongside original paintings, I create artful ceramics designed for your table and life. Each piece is made to be both functional and beautiful, adding warmth and intention to everyday rituals.

Beyond painting and ceramics, my background is rooted in design and business. I founded Home Ec in 2019, a platform for interactive cooking classes, and have worked in creative and product development roles at Pop & Suki (Director of Design and Development, 2016–2019), Coach (Handbag Development, 2012–2016), and Make Up For Ever (LVMH)(Business Development & PR, 2010–2012). I also have experience in creative and store design at Michael Kors and have worked as an interior designer for private clients.

I hold a BS in Business Administration with a minor in Interior Design from High Point University (2009) and studied Interior Design and Art History at Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy. My artistic training includes Painting and Sculpture at the Corcoran Art School in Washington, DC. Most recently, I earned a Certification in Health Coaching from mindbodygreen in 2024.

With a foundation in design, art, and business, my work is deeply influenced by how spaces shape experiences. Every painting and ceramic piece is created with intention, designed to complement its surroundings and evoke a sense of place, whether on a wall, a table, or in your hands.
